Job Signed by God
What happens when you are the disappointment?
The letdown is not exclusive to you. It is a person’s character to be a let-down. A non-fulfiller. A Scrambler. A lackluster. A Sluggard.
My child’s father has been a disappointment ever since a child came to me as a woman. From there, what was supposed to be a triad turned into options, then into the neglect of a 19-year friendship and a 9-year relationship, and ultimately, the direct neglect of the life we intended to give our child as a unit. So, do the missed birthdays and pivotal milestones add to the normalcy of destroying the home that was once promised protection and provision? Sadly, when the selection is not favorable, be careful — witches come to town, and love spells become bondage disguised as love.
Disappointment: Something or someone that is a disappointment is not as good as you had hoped.
— Collins Dictionary
The disappointment is tied to a major duty/task previously signed up for, which granted responsibility and control over the process and its outcome.
Let-down is the resulting emotion when dealing with the disappointment. Letting go of responsibility and naively allowing all duties to be assigned elsewhere is negligent.
The Disappointment
Where “dis” is a prefix conveying the opposite or removal of something.
Whereas, to “appoint” is to assign, designate, or set an official position or a scheduled event.
YOU DID NOT COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT. MISSION FAILED.
It’s sad to be a disappointment.
Imagine being a disappointment resulting from your past.
To your family, by not showing up. A lack of support. Substance abuse.
To your children, by not showing up. A lack of support. Substance abuse.
To your parents, by not being the best you can be in this life. Substance abuse.
To your colleagues, by tardiness. You show up, but rarely on time. Substance abuse.
To your significant other, by making empty promises. Substance abuse. Lethal arguments are compounding and accumulating.
A snowball of disappointments growing faster over time, waiting to blow up, kick you out, fire you, put you in rehab, cut you off, leave you, ghost you, tell your truths for you, reprimand you, and tell you all about yourself, in case it was somehow unknown or forgotten.
I consider it inhumane to be the disappointment. Argue that!
Inhumane is an adjective that describes actions, conditions, or treatment that are cruel, brutal, or lacking in compassion and sympathy for the suffering of others. It is primarily used to describe harm or negligence inflicted on humans or animals.

Is it compassionate or kind to let down the people you once cared for, the ones you currently care for? And most?
Disregard the fleeting feeling of compassion and the act of kindness, because when both go out the window, what remains?
The duty.
The task.
That obligation..
The same job you previously signed up for — and it was notarized.
There’s no compassion in being tardy and leaving others to complete the work you abandoned.
There’s no compassion in becoming the lackluster. Aren’t you somebody’s child?
There’s no compassion in creating children and then choosing not to be part of their lives.
There is no compassion in neglecting your family and calling occasional appearances “showing up.”
Is such behavior compassion?
Kind?
Is this character, or just a pattern, finally being named?
As time passes, individuals who embody disappointment may redeem themselves, while keeping in mind that disappointment is a complex secondary emotion, and many aspects of a set idea create disappointment. The emotion is secondary because it’s the result of many emotions like frustration, irritability, sadness, etc.
These disappointments are due to expectations. There is usually ignored proof of why not to expect a specific caliber of things from a certain caliber of people. Red Flags.
“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

I think it is critically important to understand that disappointment is a very vulnerable emotion, primarily because it says, “I wanted that, and I did not get it.” For some reason, saying that makes us feel very exposed, very unworthy. (Heffernan, 2025)
I translate this to: the disappointment is vulnerable. To be vulnerable means to be open to attack, harm, or damage—whether physical, emotional, or mental. The disappointed are open to it because of their awareness of their wrongdoings. It still says and proceeds, “I wanted that, and I did not get it, and it is all my fault. What is going to happen?”
It would make sense that behaviors that often stem from being the disappointed are shame, humiliation, avoidance, alienation, and self-harm.
To knowingly remain the disappointment means something else is being fed.
Drugs — substance abuse.
Sex — honeymoon rabbit-fuckin’ phase.
Money — illegally: scamming, dealing, etc., even panhandling.
You can’t neglect every position you signed up for and then produce corrective behavior by doing the “right thing” in newfound positions. The math will not work, and you will remain in the negative.
The disappointment usually lacks a standard and may have lacked parental guidance, becoming a yes man/woman or somebody’s errand boy/girl.
As a mother, sister, partner, colleague, and family member…
DON’T GROW UP TO BE THE DISAPPOINTMENT.
A disappointment? Yes, we disappoint others, and at times, it’s out of our control. But to become THE DISAPPOINTMENT…
